Business Coaching: Team Dynamics
Team dynamics refers to the way the team works together behind closed doors when no one else is around and the members are left to themselves to accomplish the goal, purpose or task set before them. The dynamics of the team will many times affect the overall effectiveness of the team and whether or not it will even accomplish what is set before it. Throwing people in a room together will not create a team but rather a big mistake.
Important Aspects of Team Dynamics
There are many different aspects of team dynamics which will be seen in one way or another in any team put together. One of the things many teams have difficulty with is working with many different personality types in the group. Everyone is different and has something special to bring to the team but sometimes these differences are not seen as a positive thing but as a negative one because some people do not fit in and personality conflicts abound.
People need to accept the fact others are different and because you have strength in one area where they are weak does not make them of lesser value. The truth is they have strength in an area where you are weak which should help to create a better team. People need to respect each other for the different strengths they have and realize a team made of diverse people means many different strengths are brought to the table for the betterment of the team.
Communication is another important part of team dynamics and can either make or break a team. The process of getting information from one person to another may seem simple enough but it is much more complex than most people ever realize. Some time spent with a qualified trainer can be of great value in developing teams with positive team dynamics in these areas and others.
